David Austin Rose Gardens

It's easy to see why many consider the David Austin Rose Garden to be one of the most beautiful in the world. Located on the eastern fringe of Shropshire, situated in a little village called Albrighton, over 700 different varieties of beautiful roses are planted in the 2 acre gardens. The garden is divided into a number of smaller areas, each individually named and reflecting its own style. Each garden has its own charm. From the wooden pergolas interlaced with beautiful displays of climbling and rambling roses to the...

Sophie & Rich Get Hitched

Sophie and Rich are one of the loveliest couples I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Their summer wedding took place at The Mill Barns in Alveley; a stunning purpose built wedding venue set in picturesque grounds.   Wedding flowers should reflect the couple and also work in harmony with the features of the location. Their vision was to fill the light airy space of The Mill Barns with an abundance of summer flowers. Sophie and Rich are a sweet and relaxed couple, and therefore a natural and elegant style...

Sarah & Tom’s Nuptials

I absolutely adored working with this lovely bride and her family, their enthusiasm and input was invigorating and inspiring. Set at the historic Moseley Golf Club on the most perfect of days, the Member’s Lounge was transformed into an elegant and graceful space.   The autumnal timing allowed for a rustic seasonal theme that perfectly softened the setting and complimented the charming young couple. Natural light poured through large bay windows onto tables set with centrepieces of hurricane vases and floral wreaths. The grand fireplaces were dressed with mantlepiece displays...

Town Hall Wedding

Stratford-upon-Avon Town Hall, situated in the very heart of this delightful market town is a very beautiful building, housing not only the Town Council but providing a romantic venue for civil weddings. The downstairs chambers are steeped in history and the impressive Council Chamber walls document many years of the town’s Bailiffs, Mayors, High Stewards, Town Clerks and notable persons, including William Shakespeare’s father, John Shakespeare, who was Bailiff in 1568-1569. I loved everything about this wedding...

Flowers Maketh a Room

This year I have been fortunate enough to work with a number of couples that had chosen Hampton Manor as their wedding venue. This beautiful Victorian country house offers a wonderfully romantic setting, it also serves as an example demonstrating how floral decorations can transform a space - setting a tone from formal to rustic to reflect the tastes of the happy couple. The glass roofed Courtyard is the perfect space for a Wedding Breakfast. Here we have a very elegant formal room set up. With floral centrepieces sitting atop...

Styled Shoot

I had such an amazing time working on this styled shoot one balmy summers day in July. I teamed up with the talented Birmingham based Designer and Photographer Ian Jones. We chose Highbury Park in Moseley as the location. Primarily because of its close proximity, but also because of its majestic hidden walled garden which provided a beautiful blank canvas for the photoshoot. [rev_slider alias="styled-shoot"] The purpose of the shoot was to showcase a selection of my spring/summer wedding flowers. I produced a number of bridal bouquets, table centrepieces, buttonholes and...

Flower Photography at Green & Gorgeous

I recently attended a flower photography course at the beautiful cutting gardens at Green & Gorgeous in Little Stoke, Oxfordshire. The course was run by professional wedding photographer and flower enthusiast Clare West. Who has spent the last year documenting the cutting gardens and styling shoots at the flower farm. The purpose of the day was to offer flower growers and florists the unique opportunity to learn how to take better photographs of their work in a natural flower-filled environment. [gallery size="medium" ids="11836,11837,11838"] Clare kick started the day teaching us the...

God Save The Queen Bee

Willow & Thorn have teamed up with The Bee Cause in helping to save Britain's Bees. Throughout the month of April we will be giving away a packet of bee friendly wildflower seeds with every flower delivery. Why all the fuss? As you may have heard, Britain's Bees are at risk of becoming extinct. Bees are vital to wildlife, plants and crops. Without bees, the entire food chain as we know it is under threat, and the full impact of losing British bees could be devastating. So far, 20 bee species...
